Our adventure begins in Rome, where we’ll roam the Eternal City’s ancient neighborhoods—from the old Jewish quarter to its most famous market district—sampling all the edible specialties of each destination as we explore Italian art and history with our local guide. At day’s end, we’ll savor a multi-course vegan tasting menu at an exclusive dining spot in the heart of the city, and raise a glass (or two) to celebrate a magical first day together.
After breakfast, we’ll set off on a day trip south to explore the history—and the food—of the Mediterranean coastline in the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius. After an immersion in ancient history, we’ll venture to one of the most picturesque towns in the region and relish a leisurely lunch with views of the sea. We’ll end the day back in Rome with a traditional Roman-style feast, complete with limoncello and tiramisu.
Today, we’re headed to Umbria, where we’ll ramble through ancient olive groves, taking in the breathtaking views while food foraging with our local guide and chef, who’ll introduce us to the local edibles growing right under our feet. We’ll pick fruit, pluck greens, and embark on a hands-on cooking class in which we’ll transform our harvest into a deluxe four-course meal. We’ll sip natural wines and relish the harmonious relationship between food and the local elixirs. A pre-dinner tour of the village and surprises await.
After a morning visit to a local organic farm and market and another local lunch, we’ll take some time to relax and unwind at our agriturismo set in the rolling hills of Umbria. You’ll have time to take a dip in the pool, read a book, or explore nearby villages on foot. As the day winds down we’ll be treated to a special wine tasting of the area's most tantalizing reds and whites before we are treated to yet another Italian feast prepared by one of the region’s premier chefs.
Onward to Tuscany, with a stop for lunch and sightseeing. Once we reach our final destination atop a medieval walled city, we’ll settle into our charming hotel, then head out for a leisurely bike tour with our local guide. Back in the center of the old city, we’ll explore the medieval heart of the old town with a scoop of gelato in hand, then freshen up in our rooms before yet another incredible supper.
Today we’re off to Tuscany’s capital, Florence, where we’ll rendezvous with our local guide and discover the food, art, and history that have made this city the center of culture and learning for centuries. We’ll visit markets, enjoy a sumptuous Italian lunch, and experience one of Michaelangelo’s finest works up close before heading back to our ancient hilltop abode. Here, we’ll relish one final vegan feast as the sun sets over the Tuscan countryside.
For our final day together, we’ll rise early and set off to the hustle and bustle of Rome. Before we bid each other arrivederci, we’ll enjoy a farewell brunch at a beloved family-run ristorante and send you off sated and full of la dolce vita memories.
